Chapter One
Why We Exist
Sometimes the smallest things are anything but small.
Patriots With Paws began with a dog.
Our family knows military service firsthand. My mother and father both served in the United States Army. I served in the United States Navy. Between us are different generations, different experiences and different stories—but a shared understanding that service can continue to shape your life long after you take off the uniform.
After leaving the military, I got a service dog named Koda.
At first, my mom didn't know I had gotten one. And when she found out, she wasn't quite sure what to make of it.
Then she watched us together.
Over the next few months, she began to see what I already knew: a service dog can become an extraordinary partner. She saw the trust between us, the quiet communication, and the difference that kind of partnership can make in someone's everyday life.
And she began to see working dogs differently.
Not simply as remarkable animals, but as partners capable of changing lives.
That experience changed the way we both looked at service.
As veterans, service was something our family already understood. But we began thinking about another kind of service—the kind performed quietly, faithfully and often without recognition by dogs working beside people every day.
Military working dogs.Police K-9s.Search and rescue dogs.Service dogs.
And generations of working dogs whose names and stories have faded with time.
The more we looked, the more we realized there were stories everywhere.
Stories of courage. Loyalty. Partnership. Sacrifice. Independence.
Stories worth remembering.
And stories worth sharing.

Then came a drive through Washington State.
My mom and I were on the road together, doing what we have always done—talking, thinking and throwing ideas back and forth.
Somewhere along that drive, we started talking about dogs. About veterans. About service. About the incredible partnerships between people and working dogs—and how many of their stories are never really told.
One idea led to another.
Patriots With Paws.
But the idea became something more when we asked a wonderfully simple question:
How can Koda help?
We talked about bringing Koda to a military museum event. People naturally smiled when they met him, and we wondered if that simple connection could do some good.
Maybe visitors could meet Koda and make a small donation.
Maybe Koda could help other working dogs.
It wasn't a business plan. There wasn't a product strategy or a grand vision of what Patriots With Paws might someday become.
There was simply a good dog, a mother and son, and the idea that perhaps we could use one remarkable partnership to help another.
From there, we kept following the same question.
How can we help?
How can we tell these stories?
How can we help children discover them?
How can we make sure these heroes are remembered?
Each answer led naturally to the next idea.
And somewhere along the way, Patriots With Paws became much bigger than the conversation that started it.
Today, we're building a place to preserve the stories of the dogs who have served beside us, celebrate those still serving today, introduce a new generation to their extraordinary history, and use the stories we tell to help working dogs and the people who depend on them.
It didn't begin with a business plan.It began with kindness.
Chapter Two
Who We Are
Stories worth knowing. Heroes worth remembering.
Patriots With Paws is a storytelling, heritage, education, and giving brand dedicated to the extraordinary dogs who have served beside us throughout history—and those continuing that legacy today.
Some of their stories are legendary.
Others have nearly been forgotten.
They are military working dogs and service dogs. Police K-9s and search and rescue dogs. Dogs who carried messages, found the wounded, protected their partners, comforted those who needed them, and performed countless acts of service that rarely found their way into history books.
Patriots With Paws exists to bring those stories forward.
We tell them through books and illustrated stories. We preserve them through our growing collection of heroes. We introduce them to children through educational experiences that make history feel alive. And we create apparel, artwork, collectibles, keepsakes, and everyday goods that allow people of every generation to carry those stories with them.
Because Patriots With Paws isn't only for children.
It's for the veteran who recognizes what it means to serve beside a trusted partner.
It's for the family who loves the history behind the dog their child just discovered.

Then one of those stories becomes yours. You might read that hero's book, choose their Hero Print, or find their shirt, hat, mug, patch, plush, or another piece of their collection. But what you're really choosing is the story.

Patriots With Paws is still being written.

Some of those stories may come from an archive. Some may come from a photograph tucked away in a family album.
